Going into the playoffs, I thought that the Sabres would only keep one of the two co-captains. I now definitely think that the Sabres will only keep one of the co-captains, because I think Chris Drury has made at least an extra $1 million during the playoffs. He and Daniel Briere are both worth between $6 and $7 million on the open market in unrestricted free agency. I believe that the Sabres gave Daniel Briere a chance last year, so that will make it their priority to sign Chris Drury, an extremely self-motivated player, to a long-term contract, maybe 5 years $30 million. It will be interesting to see what happens in the offseason, as the Sabres also have Thomas Vanek and Derek Roy to sign, though they are restricted free agents.
